Always. There is depth to the terror that a movie cannot capture. I turned my back on most of that genre early and plunged straight into spec/ sci fiction and fantasy. But if I want to be scared...Holy hell....Dracula.

Jean M. Auel and Anne McCaffrey.. Absolutely thrilling and nothing scary or macabre. I loved Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series. I only find the gothic ones spooky.

I got right into The Clan of the Cave Bear and The Dragon Riders of Pern. Hooked for life.

We have similar tastes. ❤️ I have all of Anne McCaffrey's books, in fact last week I read Dragonsinger to recover from Guy Gavriel Kay. If you're in the mood for terrifying fantasy....Sherri S Tepper. "Grass"

Did you read any of Anne's son's Dragon books? He tried to follow in her footsteps. Dean Koontz "Watchers" is a sci-fi I loved. I don't know Guy Gavriel Kay. I'll get it! Thanks!

I haven't tried her son's books. Oh, so many authors, my second bedroom in my wee stone house is a library. Guy is from Weyburn and went to U of M, so I consider him a Winnipeger lol. "Tigana" is one of my faves. Yup, Watchers. I don't have a huge amount of pure Sci-fi, but David Brin is great.

Wow! A stone house! How picturesque and properly pastoral. Now I'm jealous.

It has issues, being over 130 years old, but I swear...it was waiting for me. I may have lost a few m² inside, but the size of the yard...and this veranda...I live out here all summer. 💚

People in town, including the former owner, said it was haunted. Whether or not I sensed anything beyond unfamiliar sounds...I painted the walls in cheerful, rich colours and since then....nothing. The spirit must love all my worldbeat clutter, too. Lol

Places that have been around for lots of living always have a vibe. Even if you do have a ghost that's not a bad thing. What's your pets think? You can go by with the pets think.

Yeah, ghosts are fine, if they don't harm anyone. Ro looks up at my bedroom ceiling all the time. My female cat Rocket isn't reactive. There are documented cases of a ghost at Elmwood Kildonans Pool. I experienced his mischievousness first hand. I asked him not to get my phone wet again. He didn't.
