Most Democrats do. I know this because I listen to them and not the pundits and podcasters who tell Dems how to talk while sounding like every stereotype of us.

Perhaps I should clarify. In contrast to most dems, he speaks like a normal human being.
THIS. The crap Schumer and company spout is NOT resonating with every day Americans. They may be technically correct, but they come off as effete left coasters who think they're gods gift.
They don't resonate with them because everyday Americans don't pay any more attention to Schumer than they do to Mike Johnson, who also sounds like a dweeb most of the time.
That's exactly how and why what people like Trump and Johnson say flies under the radar as completely normal rhetoric. They have politician whisperers on YouTube or Fox to tell them what they "actually" said instead of the insane ramblings they heard
You should talk to more Dems out in the wild. I'm a legal assistant in Phoenix. My hairdresser is a Dem too. So is my stepdaughter the bartender. None of us sound like Matt Yglesias and I am tired of him and his ilk projecting their weirdness onto the rest of us.
Weirdos James Carville, Donna Brazile, Paul Begala. A clown show. Instead, talk to mayors, governors, city council and state level Dems as well as Democratic Socialists.
I could be wrong, but I think in this context, they specifically mean *Dem politicians* not *Dem voters* Dem politicians are notorious for talking like robots, unfortunately. Glad to see Pritzker's not mixing words!
Not my experience with our politicians. I think they do a solid job sounding normal in a traditional and social media environment filled with dorkass weirdos with mommy issues who are relentlessly hostile to them.
Respectfully disagree, but to each their own. I'm just glad that Pritzker, Mamdani, and others like them are getting more attention.
There are a lot more like them if you pay attention.
This is completely unimportant & your meaning is 100% clear, but just mentioning it b/c archaic idioms (by definition, TBH) aren't anchored in normal life context: The expression is "mincing words." It nods to both the "cutting small" & "shimmying" meanings of mince. grammarist.com/idiom/mince-...
Thank you! I actually *love* this kind of linguistic trivia! (And its always good to know the correct/original form of an idiom). This is one that completely slipped past me!
I was referring to trump et al
Perhaps you should admit that right now, more than a few Democrats are speaking like normal human beings-pay attention
