I switched over to fiber about 2 years ago and I was getting only 100 mbps. Turns out I was using an old Xbox Ethernet cable and it was cat 5 not cat 5e so only 100mbps!

Probably a break in the twisted pair needed for 1gbps.

Probably 🤯 i was panicking with my family because the fam PC has been having issues lately. Am glad i had a spare cable.
