100%. This is just toys for the boys. If we were really interested in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) and SAR we would have increased our NH90 fleet at much less cost and greater capability and flexibility less the shooty stuff...
We used to be the best at both. In my relatively brief stint in the RNZAF a few decades ago, I was personally involved in rebuilding the Fijian airport and my BIL, an officer in the Army, was a large player in the Bosnian peacekeeping. Far better use for our military, in my opinion.
100%. Two world wars and we still haven't learned we are too small for major conflicts... All we get out of that is just more cenotaphs around our rohe...
