11/ We *understand* that everyone has their own "normal" and we must work with that rather than clapping handcuffs on everyone for not being some goofy ideal that no one can ever factually be, because everyone is more complicated than genitals, place of birth, economic status, etc.
12/ And that's why Newsom is so rightfully despised...he's utterly, completely disconnected from the very people he SHOULD be representing. And it's frustrating that someone so effectively countering the soft civil war in national media and in redistricting can't apply these things to his State.
13/ He's been a total failure on lead-by-example (through COVID) and especially inclusion. Dems should literally be the party you don't have to fight within for your existence! Contrast with Log Cabiners, who MUST fight for their OWN EXISTENCE among an authoritarian party obessed with enforcement!
14/ And that's what I want to write about too. We don't just expect our Dem pols to be magnitudes of removed from the realities of life. The thought of billionaire oil barons authenticating our existence is abhorrent. We want Reps that are US. That LIVE, by EXAMPLE, what the Reds preach.
15/ And that sets up some BIG disconnects in the Dem-sphere. Or maybe the everyone-left-of-Mitt Money sphere. The biggest disconnect is that national leadership is pointless, purposeless, and in no way shape or form moves the national needle. That disconnect does the opposite of empowering ppl.
16/ You can clearly see from Pritzker's words that people elected and trusted with power saying the right things, and meeting the moment with the necessary energy empowers people. The guy is literally (so far!) Just Posting™ and Doing Pressers™ and Talking™ and he's a frickin' FORCE.
17/ AND THAT'S HOW IMPORTANT WORDS ARE. Conversely, that's how important NOT meeting the moment and NOT having the words are. Dem leaders did not meet the moment from 2016 until now, and smashing people with "vote harder," "protest harder" "trust the justice system" does not move needles.
18/ "I was put in office to protect people, to enable equity, and to ensure national security and yo fk off nazis" is what we're going to have to adjust to as appropriate for a Dem leader to counter with if we ever want to right this ship.
19/ (sorry again for breaks i have so many domestic irons in the fire 💀 i have to vacuum 💀) Let me be clear: I'm not saying idolize these leaders. I'm saying that we NEED leaders that can flip the bird at nazis AND understand they represent people, most often, with no one else to do that for them.
20/ And I'm not saying protesting is meaningless, either. But protesting is for a different purpose. IMHO it's more to bring support to those who might not be able to march. In red areas, this is less effective as fewer non-Red voters are present, and more are 24/7 attached to Murdoch media.
21/ And you NEED prominent, strong opposition on this media (even here on Bsky) that Reds are going to see that does what Pritzker is saying: "Government's not for this. Fuk off and leave people alone." "Fuk off" gets MORE attention than "oh well. 🤷♂️ what are we gonna do?"
