Be role models for resistance. Schumer is a disgrace. The law firm that folded today is a disgrace. ABC is a disgrace. Two out of three of those would have won but they bowed instead. #Chickenshits

ABC's case they were worried about losing a lawsuit because George did kind of mess up in his wording big time and it could've been set a disastrous precedent for the free press everywhere if that case went to trial and went badly.
That's b.s. George was quoting the judge, pointing out that NY has this "exception" to the rape law that most states have changed to include any kind of penetration. The judge said it was rape. That's a quote. A perfectly reasonable defense for ABC. All George had to do was cite the source.
other users on Daily Kos explained it better then me on here: www.dailykos.com/stories/2024...
Did you see Schumer interviewed on "The View"??? Or Chris Hayes March 13th?? I humbly ask you to watch the conductor...he really loves this country and did the only thing that could save our democracy...
And may I ask, how exactly did he save democracy? They are continuing to destroy govt agencies.
I saw Schumer very aggressively responding to women on The View and I've been hearing this lame ass argument from Dems for decades so I learned nothing except that we need Sanders and AOC because they are actively resisting.
Well he was aggressive so what?He was URGENT! explaining why he is the orchestra leader he sent Bernie &AOC out there together! This is what Russia &R's want you know...Dems against each other!
No, he was aggressive because a bunch of women were holding him to account. And guess what? He gave Russia what they wanted. He's in a leadership position. His job is to present a united front which he has never been able to do. He has folder so often he could own a laundry.
I saw Schumer angrily raising his voice on The View defending what he did. Doesn't change it. They folded. Just like ABC and now a law firm. They are surrendering to fascism.
No he just didn't angrily raise his voice he EXPLAINED WHY! He said it was the lesser of two evils do you honestly think that if the government shutdown which is what Space Nazi wanted That they wouldn't try to go in w/ his DOGE & dismantle Social Security? If you believe that U ARE NOT PAYING ATTN
Do you honestly believe they won't try and do that anyway? GOP still would have won. The point is to resist. This is like voting for the Nazis because they might do something worse. It's moral bankruptcy. And yes, he did raise his voice.
They can try but there are already 22 cases before the courts to slow them down and STOP them the point is to resist but they have to be strategic if it was shut down I guarantee me & everyone else getting S.S.would not get any money & it could be shut down for 6 mos! Shitler&Sissy SpaceX wanted it!
I worked at Paul Weiss many years ago for a year-and-a-half. It was a terrible place for me, but I still respected many things about the firm. I’m so disappointed in and ashamed for them. What a complete capitulation. It’s a big powerful firm and this sets a horrible precedent.
Any idea why they did it? They'd have won in court.
$. Avoid death threats. Keep their employees safe and working. I don't think it was political. Just profoundly disappointing
While the rest of us less powerful less rich not trained in law are on the streets and social media, putting ourselves at risk daily. The precedent they set was a disaster. All the TV lawyers are stunned.
I has an interesting conversation with a friend who was in management at Perkins Coie who had a surprisingly sympathetic perspective on Paul Weiss although she wished they chose differently.
PW didn’t want to be blacklisted - and, I guess the firm can continue its diversity practices without having DEI listed in its platform. I’m still disappointed. Perkins Coie took the better approach. What did your friend say?
The weight of keeping staff safe in the workplace from threats to the firm. Safety drills, all access doors locked etc. And while many but not all lawyers may be able to afford to keep themselves safe in and out of the office, staff can't. Perkins nevertheless did what it did now...
and with threats related to its role in the Steele dossier but a lot of considerations went into how to proceed
So they surrendered before anything happened. That's what good Germans did. Stay low, don't make a fuss, act like it's all normal. Just pure cowardice.
And keep from laying off staff, as you mentioned above.
