Anyone sleep in two phases? I keep sleeping all evening then waking up and I’m wondering whether to try and get out of it or embrace it.

There is some evidence, although I think it's debated that people in the past used to sleep in two shifts. The forgotten medieval habit of 'two sleeps' share.google/0DbSLzSNeAVr...
Yeh. That’s what made me wonder rather than worry. It’s not very sociable if you’re the only one doing it, but many nights I’m alone.
I love an afternoon nap.
I seem to love naps all the time 😂 How long do you nap when you do?
An hour and a bit usually. Bloody office life has killed me nap opportunities 😑
How are you coping with the office days Terry?
I kind of like it. Feels like I get 2 Fridays. No more office Friday and real Friday.
Hehe. You're not in 5 days then? Yeah i love the night before a work from home day. Hate forcing myself to bed early.
3 says at the moment. Sometimes 2 I think.
Perfect. 2 is the perfect number i think.
Officially I take Fridays off but that’s mainly as I don’t have enough work
Officially i take every other Friday off. Unofficially i take every second Friday off. 🤭
When I used to work in an office (probably over 7 years ago), there was a medical room that had a bed in it. People just used to take naps there.
I seem to be drifting more and more toward this as I get older.
I get up early, get the kids off to school, then finish sleeping. Always 2 phases for me!
Go to bed, sleep five hours. Awake, either reading or daydreaming for three hours. Then three hours sleep. I think that, before clocks or electric lighting, two phase sleep was normal...someone had to be up in the small hours to make sure the fire didn't go out.
Well I folded the washing and tidied the kitchen
At least you do something useful !
Wasn’t the post fun sleep break to be honest lol
*most
Been doing it for years now, very rarely get more than four hours sleep Sometimes I get up, do stuff and go back to bed later, othertimes I lie there and drift off after a couple hours
An evening nap is luxurious, but suggests you are tired. So perhaps more overall sleep would be beneficial?
Yeh I’m up sorting washing and tidying the kitchen now before I go back to bed properly.
Don't forget your overalls!
I'm all team nap Sometimes shortly after waking up - other times after a meal
Maybe enforcing it as short would help. Lay down with my audiobook and think I slept solidly for 4 hours.
3+ hours, looking at my last posts lol
Yes. It works quite well. People do it naturally if they go to bed early. The trick is to expect it and not stress about insomnia. I still get a good 8 hours.
Yeh I’ve got into the mentality of “four hours down” so I don’t fret.
It's proven that 3 bouts if sleep The first one about 2 hours after breakfast is the bodies natural rhythm A Swedish study?? was really interesting reading many years ago I never worry about needing little sleep Nut I can fall asleep anywhere really
Me too, although for me it's mid afternoon when I get *really* tempted to have a snooze, but work gets in the way. 🙃 At night I usually sleep for 4, wake for 2, then sleep another 4 if I get the chance. Don't use an alarm unless I have something I need to do.
Similar, but I often just bink out asleep 😆
At least twice a day Or night Hence #2amclub Or today #3amclub with pup and some reading time
