Is defensive WAR the most counter-eyetest stat in sports? Getting flashbacks of “Matt Weiters is the worst defensive catcher in baseball” … when that’s all he was good at
Defense is notoriously hard to measure statistically but it’s also one of the areas where the “eye test” is most deceptive. Any one method of assessment is going to be flawed so it’s just important to have a lot of decent counter-measures.
Fair. I personally like the “no way Kjerstad would’ve got to that but he did” as a baseline this year
