When I think of the average modern prequel, I am reminded of the opening to Last Crusade, where Indy acquires his hat, whip, scar, and fear of snakes in one sequence. Everything has to have an origin, and everything has to be important. His hat couldn't just be a hat he bought because he liked it.
Yeah this was the problem with Solo also. Compared to Andor which just plays in that era and adds to it and the background. Miles apart. SNW also falls into that over explaining things that just are. There's definitely an interesting video or podcast analysis of the two styles.
