Joni Ernst has announced she’s not seeking re-election. This is huge. And, this announcement comes on the heels of Dems flipping a very red Iowa state senate seat. This win broke Republican super-majority in the legislature. Ernst has read the room & decided to quit rather than be fired.
Smart, want-to-keep-their-seats Republicans can only see Ernst decision as a warning. If Ernst is leaving because she doubted her ability to win in red Iowa, what chance do Republicans have in blue or swing districts?
