It doesn't absolve Anakin of any responsibility. He still made the choice to do what he did. What it DOES do, is show when you train children to be soldiers without giving them love & emotion growth, you pretty much reap what you sow.

Other Jedi through the years have pointed out they should do more to end things like slavery, and the High Council was like, "hey, that's not our problem. Suck for them, but our hands are tied. Not really, we just don't want to." (That's the basic gist of it.)
