You can certainly disagree. Not sure how that makes my view "joyless," but I suppose that's just how you see it.

Searching for some uniform, machine-made pursuit of "perfection" that won't even be satisfying seems very joyless to me. I'm here for the drama, the friction, the ump-working. Being upset different humans call different zones strikes me as the same as being upset that fields have different dimensions so a homer in Boston wouldn't be a home in Kansas City.
