I don’t have very many Political Books on my bookcase but after your Sudan report and many others I think you deserve a spot on the shelf next to Alexie’s Patriot. Can’t wait to read it.
How did that review from the Washington Post slip past Jeff Bezos' crew?
I have a feeling in a few years maybe not even that this Admin has a whole bigger goal than Intel and that’s Housing and Land. If you control that you control everything.
It would be nice to live in a world in which this was no longer relevant except as a guide to an unpleasant world from which we have now escaped. Sadly this isn’t on the horizon.
Read the new preface: open.substack.com/pub/anneappl...
Thank you so much for sharing the new preface with us. It's so helpful, so concise and just what is needed right now.
Please enjoy the Trump is dead rumors while they last
Thank you for posting this. I "only" have the HC version from when it was first published. The new preface is an important addition. We are all witnessing history in the making. So context and recall what has happened in such a short time already are important.
Thank you. That’ll especially please the folks who are kicking themselves for having just purchased a copy without the new preface.
Thanks
I own the hardcopy so I geekily printed the preface and am keeping it inside the cover of the original.
Is Trump included or do we need a postscript?
May be available at your local library! Electronic or book format
I read it last year, right after its release: a great book, written in clear language that makes everyone understand the real danger autocracies pose to democracies. I can only recommend it to all!
SCOTUS hasn't lost its mooring it's pulled up anchor and full steam ahead. The corruption being passed as laws with an untouchable life time appointment protection is another broken wheel of our government. Turns out democracy is actually a COMMITMENT not an experiment.
Good book and an easy read for most. Did I mention it’s an Easy Read? So you know what to do… no excuses.
Very nice quote from the FT, excellent:
Sadly relevant. Thanks
