This. Nott’m is hardly a difficult abbreviation. Using the County term would be like calling Leicester ‘Leicestershire City’. But it’s generally used most frequently by people looking to wind up a Forest fan.

An abbreviation is unnecessary. No-one feels the need to say “Brum City” or “Newc Utd”. And “We hate Nottingham Forest” scans perfectly 😀

It’s because you’d be mistaking us for the name of both another team and the county club rather than the city club. A bit like deliberately confusing Man City with Man Utd.

Man City and Man Utd do, but aren’t quite so sensitive about it. Genuine question: Where does this sensitivity stem from when it’s quite a logical abbreviation? Is is because Notts County use it?
