I remember learning in high school physics class that the speed at which an object goes up dictates its return velocity. So don’t shoot a gun at a drone.

in theory, if a bullet goes *straight* up, it might start to tumble on the way down which would increase air resistance and decrease its terminal velocity. At any sort of angle, though, it'll keep spinning, pointy end front, and air resistance isn't going to slow it as much.

Air resistance will still slow it some, though. Ballistics figured out approximately how far the bullet traveled by how far it penetrated the victim. With that, the angle of the possible shooter, and the heights and locations of buildings and trees, they were able to narrow down the shooter location

tbh I still don't want to be struck by a bullet at half speed either
