11. Dropship #SST25

11. Dropship The moon came up quickly as the ship descended toward it’s surface, the shielding glowing red as the ship entered it’s thin atmosphere, this small explorer class vessel sought to be the first to safely touch down upon the surface. The crew had been fitted with sealed suits for space exploration and stood together ready to rappel down ready to explore. The doors opened and all at once the six of them dropped down, the ropes lowering them the remaining distance to the surface of this moon, as the eerie red glow of the planet’s other moon backlit their ship. Boots on the ground, they all began moving around, exploring, experiencing the differing gravity here, while some of them looked for any rare minerals to pick up and take back, unique items that could be used, or pretty looking rocks or materials that could be taken back to their planet and sold to those groups who worshipped the moon as a deity.

12. Docking and 13. Red #SST25 Another double feature after being too tired last night. Wrote both of these on the train this morning

12. Docking The Council’s flagship moved in close to the pirate vessel they’d crippled, there were many holes in the vessel but fortunately this modified Bombard class freighter’s air bubble was still functioning, allowing the council members and their mechanical servants to board unimpeded aside from the remaining pirates who were waiting. The doors opened and the pirates began firing primitive weapons at them, mainly simple crossbows and slings, most attacks simply bouncing off the shields of the boarding party. One pirate at the back appeared to be some kind of sorcerer channelling a powerful ability, but the council were prepared for this, one of their automaton servants launched a wrist dart in the sorcerer’s direction, the toxin quickly taking effect and suppressing his ability to use any arcane abilities. Fear spread across this large man’s face before he was hit with a barrage of attacks that lit him up like a holiday festival before he fell back, a smoking husk, his staff rolling away to the side of the corridor. The council slaughtered their way through the rest of the pirates, taking complete control of the ship, and victorious they took the ship back to port along with their own flagship. 13. Red Red, the colour of the moon of ill omen, but also the colour of the alert they received today, the planet’s greatest floating city had fallen, the god slaying weapon within had been found about by the gods and their divine fury had torn it asunder, casting it from the sky. The Council, while attempting to make their own comparable weapons, had been more careful, keeping their Forge cloaked and shielded out in space. Yet they knew it was too much of a risk to remain aboard, and so they abandoned the forge for a time, leaving it hidden in maintenance mode. Cloaked from all, the only means of access now via a teleporter synched with the Forge. Security was paramount, meaning that the teleporter was kept hidden underground, only locatable via three technological compasses. Each member of the council would carry one to be stored in a location only known to them, preventing any rogue members from sneaking back to the forge without agreement from others within the council. After this was done, the council reconvened on the planet's surface weeks later, locking themselves within a hidden bunker until such time as the wars raging on the planet were over and it was safe to return to the forge. Unfortunately the council would not survive this long, first their bunker was seemingly infiltrated, a young wizard appeared inside appearing to have been cursed by one of Zarmer’s inventions. Yet during his examination of this young woman, she somehow managed to escape, stealing a variety of their valuable equipment before diving through a portal.

14. Carrier and 15. Wingman #SST25

14. Carrier While many believed the teleporter to be the only way to access the Forge space station now that it’d been cloaked, hidden far out at sea was a supply carrier, tucked away it’s dock disguised as a simple rock formation among many, this small supply carrier could autonomously make trips back and forth between the station and the planet’s surface, with a few caveats. First off, it wasn’t fast, and would take at least a week to fly up and reach the station and drop off any supplies loaded aboard. Secondly, it was only a small vessel with a few compartments, nothing too large or heavy can be carried on board. Thirdly and most importantly, it cannot carry anything living, this isn’t a question of morality, but practicality. There is no space for a pressurised interior, nor power to spare for a functioning air bubble. Had there been more time to develop this supply carrier further, some of those issues could have been fixed. Though in the absence of anything else, the forge can thank it’s continued functionality after all these years to this little autonomous supply carrier, dutifully carrying supplies up to the station over and over again for centuries. 15. Wingman Ace pilot Harra flew his patrol craft following the merchant’s route, the captain of the merchant convoy had reported some weird findings in this system, so Harra and his wingman Reto were here to investigate. At that moment Reto’s voice came over the comm “Hate to say it bud but i’m just not seeing anything, red moon might give me an ominous feeling but the scanners aren’t showing anything, just some storms and primitive life forms. No signs of that weird floating living cityscape either.” Harra sighed before responding “I guess that captain must’ve just been paranoid after all, though I do have a strange feeling too. Maybe let’s follow the route out of the system, stick close together just in case anything does show up?” Reto responds before moving into position “Sure, that’s what good wingmen are for, i’ll follow your lead, keeping the scanners on just in case” It was a somewhat tense journey following the route out of the system, but the scanners remained clear, so they reported as much, even if they couldn't shake the feeling that there was something watching them.
