TL;DR
I can manage a shorter (30-60 minute) podcast if the subject is interesting enough eg the Dalrymple & Anand Empire series. But member of the household listens to gaming podcasts that are excruciating to even overhear in passing. I bought him headphones for Xmas.
Live streamers are the worst imo
Relatable. No amount of added or subtracted paralel activities make podcasts a valid medium for me. I can listen to radio, music or entertainment radio, but not podcasts. I can't give a good explanation why that is, but I've tried different forms and I've tried many times. Not for me.
I donβt know who finds the time to watch all these long podcasts in todayβs busy fast paced world
oof I killed my sentence... I think it's still readable with some effort.... apologies
The ones that I know simple merge it with other activities because they actually don't have the time either. The people that I know use podcasts and videos professionally and frequently engaged were them, were often also creating them or making personal sacrifices for career (imo too many).
Obviously, for learning, I use other methods. I also keep a low use of video for learning, with some exceptions where the visuals are too important or the quality is very good and/or suited to my personal learning needs. Books, reading and just engaging with the material are my go-to solutions.
People say that podcasts are the new books. I kinda disagree with that.
What a silly concept. I'm not even going to bother arguing against it.
All the time. 4 per month since years.
Wow
I like them. So much information, love it.
Actual Politics 2x Politics History from past to nowdays.
I usually last 10 minutes⦠but every once in a while the subject matter and speakers can keep my attention for 25 - 30 minutes
I prefer short clips but definitely podcasts without timestamps specially are not my thing
Same! I check the time of clips or scroll if 45 minutes or more. Many are just redundant in their points. I like the less is more
I haven't even been able to watch my own son's peer support training videos longer than a few minutes! I've subscribed to many outlets, but I just don't have the patience
I cannot watch a podcast. It's not a visual medium. I enjoy listening to them while driving, hiking, or doing housework.
Same. And thank you. I was beginning to think βI canβt be the only oneβ. I can only squeeze them in while doing something else.
send me the transcript, I can read far faster then people speak
I believe that's why they have 2x 3x speeds on youtube
Tried it, I can still get through a transcript faster.
In my younger days I did, a few, not that many, after awhile itβs all almost the same.
