Sadly, he seems to also piss off the Democratic establishment. I can’t help but think that the struggle against fascism will require us to find a way to somehow remove the Democratic leadership that stands firmly against organic progressive movements.
From this side of the pond it does look like the Dems have shuffled to the right in a fruitless attempt to fight the GOP at their own game. It won't work.
Definitely. They seem to have taken the wrong lessons from the 2024 election, even though Harris did seek out & secure endorsements from far-right figures like the Cheneys, which turned off a lot of Dem voters.
With Mamdani, I think the issue for the Democratic leadership is that they view themselves as Keynesians & are very wary of embracing any politician who identifies explicitly as socialist. They’re also freaked that he’s a Gaza-supporting Muslim, while they’re all serving as genocide apologists.
Hopefully he has the skills of Kamala Harris in executing on those progressive ideals. (Look at her long local, state and national record and do a side by side comparison of their progressive proposals, albeit local v. national.)
