Just to poke your brain, what quality does Holmes have that gives him an edge on Poirot?

You're very good at brain poking! Holmes' edge? Watson! Definitely Watson! 😉 (Plus, I'm more familiar with Sherlock Holmes than I am with Hercules Poirot so I'm biased.)

I think you're on to something. I feel Holmes and Poirot are pretty equal in their acuity of detection and outsmarted criminals. But Watson is by far mentally agile compared to Captain Hastings. Plus, his knowledge as a doctor had been insurmountable to Holmes' cases.
