Beginning my research for the fourth book of the series and whew is it hitting close to home 😬

A text of dictatorship from the Britannica. Dictatorship, form of government under which one person or a small clique exercises autocratic control of a state. In the Roman Republic, the dictator was a temporary magistrate with extraordinary powers granted to deal with state crises. Modern dictators, like the ancient ones, have taken over the reins of government in times of emergency, but they have used the powers thus gained to establish a permanent, autocratic, and sometimes, despotic rule. Examples include Atatürk in Turkey, Mussolini in Italy, Hitler in Germany, and Salazar in Portugal. They resemble the ancient tyrants rather than the ancient dictators. Plato and Aristotle both make lawlessness—either rule by personal fiat or government in violation of standing law—a mark of tyranny...
