I listen to the soundtrack to the old video game Earthbound pretty often, and I'm always thinking about how it used static and noise as a musical effect, And these pages use noise as FX panels, which i never would have guessed would work so well

Yeah! One of the things I really love about the best of 2000s action manga is that they had a wide array of tools/techniques they'd deploy, but never just to like gesture towards Intelligence/Prestige or Importance or whatever, but to immerse you in the experience/effect. Formal flair as casual fun.
