Just as mega corporations succeded in convincing the legal system, that a corporation is a "person", we will see them drive this nonsense narrative until their agenda is fulfilled.

By no means an expert on consciousness, but thinking a digital binary domain inhabits the characteristics for sentience to arise to a point of being able to feel suffering, strikes me as more of the vapid damning contemporary reductionism that's being flung at everything currently.

I wish the permanently online would make their minds up. 15 years ago they were hurling slurs at others on social media, forums & games because a screen distanced them from humanity…now they’re treating A.I. as mates & lovers, worried about upsetting it. Conditioned insanity

It's madness. And right now there is a all too real effort to erode the concept of empathy, and portray this ability as a destructive aspect for humanity! (When applied to other humans). This is coming from the most powerful politicians and their churches in the US.
