Speaking of the shit Disneyfication of old IP, there was a trailer for Predator: Badlands during this week’s episode….and….jfc it looks dreadful. I’m not at all precious about the Predator franchise (one great film & a load of mediocre-to-shite follow ups), I just loathe such insults to cinema
I believe I watched the last Predator movie with a friend a few years ago, because we watched the original together when it came out. It was a shite fest, even going in with no expectations. Partly hilarious because of how terrible it was.
Prey? Yeah, it was nonsense. A boring CGI fest with dumb writing, yet people bang on about it like it’s a masterpiece. Nostalgia, fan service, design by algorithm & Netflix Brain™️ have utterly ruined films & TV
Oh I haven't seen that one and I'm not entirely sold the way you described it. It was the 2018 thing.. did you catch that abomination?
Oh shit yeah….the Shane Black film. One of the worst things I’ve ever sat through
It just kept falling apart over and over again, it was a staggering feat of ineptitude and carelessness.
I feel there’s a similarity to Alien Earth. It doesn’t know if it’s made for children or adults, and everyone in it is bizarrely stupid
My main issue is the fact that the "hybrids" are essentially just kids in these artificial bodies and that they're the main focus. We're supposed to enjoy the fact that they're experiencing all these horrific things, mostly unfazed. Huh?
Even if those characters are discovering the feeling of "fear" or self-preservation for the first time, we, the viewers are not. Because we're human!
The whole child robot thing is daft. They’re either competent enough to go on a search & rescue mission or work in a lab with something so important, or they’re naive idiots…all depending on whatever moves the plot along
