Facts. If I had listened to all the negativity and hate I wouldn't have played what is actually a genuinely really good game (that also has kickass combat btw). Not to mention I had never played a DA game before and enjoyed this so much that I went back and played 1&2 and LOVED them

It has its issues (all games do) and I can definitely nitpick what frustrated me but it’s a good game. CC is expansive, the level design is great, and it does fun stuff with genres.

I've played all of them, except this one. Mostly because I've had other more pressing titles queued and was waiting for better sales on this. Given the UI and party control downgrades each iteration, I can believe the criticisms. I am excited to play this though since it's making it to game pass.

I love this game, I love the party members, I love the world. Was everything perfect… how I wanted, no. But it was still an awesome time, with an EPIC final mission that had me on the edge of my chair sweating my life away in nerves. Don’t care about the negativity this game got. Truly loved it

I just can’t bring myself to play it. Origins in my mind was a perfect game and I found myself being disappointed with both of the subsequent entries.

The fact is most people who said this sucked actually never played it. It’s under appreciated and well made, it might have some flaws line any game, but I ended up putting 70 hours and did just about everything. It was free on PS Plus and I hope that also got more people to play

I’ve been saying ever since said it came out that people will look at this game, retrospectively and say “I don’t understand why I got so much hate”. I’m no Nostradamus. Look at Dragon age 2. It wasn’t beloved when it launched, but people look at it more fondly now.

Seems the case for the Mass Effect series as well. Ppl complained about the Mako and how it handled. Mako missing from ME2. Ppl complained about it being removed.

I recently convinced someone to give it a try (he’d played all the others and like them, but was skeptical thanks to all the BS. Talked to him the other day, he’d just finished it and LOVED it.

Oh yeah, MEA has such a better reputation now. I saw it on the bioware discord before and after Veilguard came out. All of a sudden, MEA did everything *right* and Veilguard was wrong for not doing x, y, and z just like MEA.

I wanted to love this game. I went into it with no expectations other than feeling like a DA game. I replayed it three times to 100% cuz it's my favorite game franchise. But the more I played, the more it broke my heart. It's just so shallow and safe and "marvel". I only see lost potential.

Every DA has been quippy, but Veilguard, to me, just took it way too far. There's a dissonance between the world-ending scenario and the overall tone, no balance between levity and gravity, too many "Rule of Cool" cinematic action moments that kept breaking the immersion for me.

Then we will have to agree to disagree. I'm just saying, if Mark Darrah and Jason Schreier both report on how there was an intentional shift in tone because they wanted to chase a certain marvel-like trend, then I can clearly see that shift in Veilguard, no matter how hard they tried to rectify it.

There's also the simplification of the setting and lore to appeal to a broader audience. It also didn't help that you could feel the remnants of the live service MMO version all over the game. Mark Darrah recently talked about this, using the Thor movies as an example. At ca 42:40.
