As someone from a country that shortened its time as a first-rate power by decades through entering WWI with almost no strategy, planning with its allies, or even awareness that non-military options might still be usable, I hope for the US' sake they're not planning on the exact same thing.

He was at Guantánamo! He was a civil affairs officer! He's got a Bronze Star w/olc and I found the citation for the 2nd award. It was for re-writing a manual! (TBF the 1st may have been for not getting blown up in a Humvee, but I've not been able to find that citation.)(The RPG bounced off)
