I don’t get very emotional about baseball these days, so I was shocked to find myself pumping my fist and screaming “YES. THAT’S RIGHT. LET THEM HAVE IT” about something Dave Flemming said (that the panda exhibit at the San Diego Zoo is overrated.)

He's not wrong.
Almost certainly the worst exhibit there, and I’ve even paid extra to do the early morning private tour.
I have a friend whose unpopular opinion is that if pandas are too dumb to procreate they deserve to go extinct. It’s one of those “I think he’s joking, but is he?” scenarios
Pictured: a proper Panda exhibit
where's san franciscos pandas? show some respect to winners.
“we have Panda Watch at home” and it’s just Pablo Sandoval making a cameo with the Savannah Bananas
get his ass!!
The San Diego Zoo is a marvel, a treasure, a gift. But take all the time you would spend in line for the pandas and stare at a gharial instead. Maybe say something like “hello, Mr. Gharial, your snout is looking especially bulbous today.”
I was not sure gharials were real until I visited the San Diego Zoo. I had only ever seen or heard of them in a book I had as a kid. The other great part of that exhibit is you look down into the water and HOLY CRAP THAT’S A GIANT TURTLE!
i think pandas are overrated in general honestly
they are too stupid to live and yet we insist
“May I boop that snoot?” Overheard when standing next to Grant while he was observing the Gharials at the Sam Diego Zoo after he greeted them.
The Padres would be so much cooler as the San Diego Gharials.
We spend countless hours and dollars to get those stupid bears to mate, but within 2 minutes of getting to the giant tortoises at the San Diego zoo, one was loudly humping another. At which point the real show became watching parents try to talk around that to curious little kids.
We went on an overcast Friday afternoon in late spring and were able to just walk into the panda exhibit. It’s not something I’d be willing to wait hours to see.
I instantly thought “they’re gonna get emails”, but this wasn’t what I was thinking 😅
“do you like cheese on a sandwich?"
The majority of my fun these days is flagging troll comments on The Athletic's game discussion board so that they disappear.
