But I feel like that's just discouraging newcomers from delving deeper into the scene by judging them based on who their favourite rapper is, specially when he's a perfectly valid pick for it. If you'd posted this and said Drake instead I'd get it more, but ehhhhh

Why would you get it more if I said Drake? He’s definitely another artist like this, since he’s also a giant in the industry that EVERYONE has heard by now. They both attract a lot of folks for whom they’re the only rappers they listen to. I just happen to like Kendrick and hate Drake.

Because Drake has always felt more superficial when it comes to hip-hop. He's not been part of the culture for years and consistently tried to distance himself from it in order to gain mass appeal. If someone tells me their favourite rapper is Drake THEN I'd go "okay, yeah, you probably don't -
