Yes but that's because we practice socialism for corporations, especially the fossil fuel and armaments industries, and capitalism for the workers.

Almost as much as the annual budget for the US military. We subsidize them, they earn obscene profits; they destroy the environment, we pay the costs. We're a long way from being able to rely 100% on renewables; weaning Big Oil off the government teat would help move that along.
