The regime is incapable of doing public messaging that appeals to the broad majority, as opposed to doing insane crack propaganda for the base, because nearly everyone with influence in it is completely off the rails themselves.

Well and pretty simply they’ve lost everyone who isn’t their base so they can’t afford to disappoint their base bc they use that power and excitement to dupe/intimidate otherwise unenthusiastic voters into tacit support, so they have to keep that group addicted—they love cruelty and reality tv bs.
