Well and pretty simply they’ve lost everyone who isn’t their base so they can’t afford to disappoint their base bc they use that power and excitement to dupe/intimidate otherwise unenthusiastic voters into tacit support, so they have to keep that group addicted—they love cruelty and reality tv bs.
