If Putin is adament in settling the war in Ukraine with a broader European agreement, European governments should turn the demand back on Moscow and present a list of expected concessions. 1/2

exactly! Why-oh-why dont our representatives do this? They are supposedly not stupid, neither Merz nor Macron. It is even simply just listing the demands of law that would be sufficient! Go there say 'ceasefire for return to the international borders of 2013'. Bam. Let Russia hyperventilate.
After all, as the only European power that has invaded its neighbors three times in the past 17 years, what steps is Russia prepared to make to reassure European NATO states of its non-hostile intentions? 2/2
I suspect that our representatives dont so this because appeasement of Trump (helping him pressure Zelensky accept Russias demands wholesale so Trump can waive a peace crown) is more important to them than even our own 3-5 year security prospects. Let them show this mistrust is unjustified.
Fabian I'm sure you know the Russian quote from the EPAA confidence and security building measures negotiations in the Obama years - "that's the problem, you Americans have too much of both [confidence and security]". Really ought to turn that one back around on the Russians.
The issue here is not that Russia should be trusted (it should not be); the issue is that its primary opponent -- the U.S. -- has, far beyond any reasonable doubt, proved itself to be an UTTERLY untrustworthy, treacherous and dangerous negotiating "partner". Why is this fact, never acknowledged?
Considering America's disgraceful track record in (for example) invading and occupying Iraq (Russia would have to invade and occupy Venezuela, to equal this)... what steps is the U.S. prepared to make, to reassure the world of its "non-hostile intentions"?
The best settlement will be the destruction of the Putlerregime and reducing his Reich to what it was during the days of Moscovia and preferably less than that.
Nobody has mentioned who is going to fund the rebuild of Ukraine. $Bs of confiscated Russian money in Western banks. Surprised Trump not yet stolen it.
One can think of Chinese or Gulf money!!
