If we're talking bars, this is a uniquely Hungarian institution: the borozó. It loosely translates as "wine bar" but you ain't going to be getting Robert Parker 95 pointers.

It reminds me of Lisbon's Ginjinha Bars which will sell you a shot of the eponymous drink (a sour cherry liqueur) to consume whilst standing for about €1... Other spirits are available for the very commited.
