It's a feature not a bug. A sick, scared, uneducated, disenfranchised and desperately poor populace is what their policies have been aiming toward for decades. If anyone can show me a federal GOP policy that indicates otherwise in the last 40 years I will be shocked.
But astonishingly their rural base continues to vote for this sorta stuff
Consider the propaganda machines of Fox and Newsmax, along with a number of "bros" with blogs that churn out non-stop support for Trump. The rural population thinks everything is fine. Eventually something will impact them, loss of health providers, a job, or a benefit. Then a change.
