Unlike in DC, I don't think the Guard could engage in law enforcement in Chicago (for the same reason they couldn't in LA). In other words, get ready for more standing around in front of federal buildings

Yeah Chicago is significantly, significantly denser than LA, if they plan on standing around in front of federal buildings in the Loop, there could be a large number of people there to greet them.

But the ostensible reason in Los Angeles was to protect ICE weenies from Angelino meanies. The evidence of the latter was meager, but it was not wholly made up. There is no federal action being impeded in Illinois in the same way, even allegedly. I worry they may be trying to end-run Printz.

Active duty has same issues as LA. Title 10 guard activation needs a declaration. Title 32 like LA would presumably be similar. Activation of other states guard forces wasn’t requested and would be an invasion by another state at the direction of the dictator. uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?p...
