The water's near boiling already and this jackass is swimming around trying to convince us nothing is wrong.

I would disagree with this - I think Aaron very clearly thinks things are horribly wrong. But he's in the details and thinks they are important. I'm willing to accept his expertise on the current situation - I just want to know what comes next.
He's not "in the details," he's playing semantics to minimize the threat.
He's either doing it because he's in denial or complicit. Either way it's not great!
No he absolutely is, he is an expert on immigration and the related laws. It's fine to disagree with his conclusions or predictions, but he absolutely knows the topic in excruciating detail.
If this were a question of immigration law, you'd be on to something, but it's not. This is about history and human nature. It's been explained thousands of times by now, but Auschwitz wasn't a death camp on day one. The horrors escalated over time, and we're very much within them now.
Aaron's assertion is "my buddies the prison guards are nice to me, so they can't possibly be as terrible as those monsters who ran Nazi concentration camps." And that's not how that works, and never has been.
