pix is only available to customers in brazil. it's not a solution.
pix is only available to customers in brazil. it's not a solution.
France and portugal is using it, theres ways to use it, and it presses our gov in brazil to make pix a global solution
In both, in some regions with high tourism have some stores that went through the bureaucracy to set up receiving pix for payments. That's not very much "France and portugal are using it". That's like a store that takes US dollars (at bad rates) because that way they get more tourists.
Its simply a paliative option, theres also unionpay (chinese credit card/payment processor), bitcoin, and etc. Theres lots of ways to dodge US payment processors fascist censorship
unionpay is almost impossible to get in most countries (so not really different to pix). amex is an option that's easier to get than unionpay, it's still not global. bitcoin is alright but ethereum is more environmental and monero is more private but itch will never be big unless they take visa/mc
They are a indie game company, they are already niche, i dont really think that would be a big sacrifice, knowing that, if goes visa/mastercards way creators would just leave amidist the censorship.
Indie games are a massive industry, itch is not niche. Many creators rely on their itch income and will stay even if itch is forced to take down adult content. However, if itch stopped taking mc/visa, they'd then look for other places to sell their game as their revenues would drop a lot.
Best of both worlds would be if itch could do something like "We take visa/mc/amex/paypal for regular games, and only ethereum for adult-only games", but I suspect payment processor policies may reject that nevertheless.
Unfortunately, the card operators don't allow that, either.
