We need to embrace the multiculturalism that built a strong nation after World War Two. The USA has always been a nation of land stealing immigrants, but turning that diversity into a team is what put the USA in its role as a world power.

That's also when "under god" was added to the pledge of Allegiance. I was so pissed when I found out I had had to say "under god" every morning in the pledge because of some paranoid, controlling idiot from the 1950s.
My parents never said it after they did that. I regularly did not recite it in school in the 60s/70s for this reason.
Also: the Pledge sounds so much more badass without it. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands! One nation, INDIVISIBLE, with Liberty AND Justice FOR ALL! Take that you Confederate assholes!

Never should have changed. Also, I’m for removing god and religion from any and all aspects of what should be our secular life, i.e. public and government. That’s what churches are for, talking to the imaginary friend and quiet reflection (emphasis on quiet).
