This is an insane take. The company putting oranges in plastic boxes isn't thinking about generating demand for plastic, they're thinking about the cheapest way to protect, shelve, display, and sell their product. I'd love for them to use some other packaging, but this isn't a conspiracy.

The asset management firms Blackrock, Vanguard, and State Street Advisors are the largest single shareholders in 9 out of 10 companies on the S&P 500, so it is naturally in their interest to discourage any reduction in products they own. that would lower profits. It's Not a conspiracy.

Buddy, I assure you the grocery store here isn't operating under some overarching edict besides putting out a product they think will sell for huge markup. There is no "use as much plastic as you can" instruction.
