They're not asking you to change what you think or feel, just your actions. Because the thing they don't appreciate is a foundational element of sharing anything with people, including a platform designed for sharing things. It's not really reasonable to this reaction and expectation

They are asking you to not do the action out loud to them, it's not that difficult. It's not everyone, and as with genders and even deadnames, the first mistake is always free. Just once they tell you, stop and don't try to justify continuing to cross a boundary.

You knowing doesn't change it but you're right, it's already the most reasonable thing in the world for someone to stop doing something to you when you ask them not to. No matter what it is.

Like if you asked me to stop responding to you, then it would be perfectly reasonable, and I would think, "okay," and then just stop responding to you. It would be easy because I respect you as a person.
