I truly hope that teachers take the time to care for themselves. But I fucking pay them to care for and educate the kids in my community. My company has benefits for me to practice self care, but they aint paying me to do that.

YES, YES, YES! I don't want people to think I'm knocking janitors as a group, the ones in our school played basketball in the gym when they were supposed to be moving our furniture out, waxing, and moving it back in, so there was a rush in August right when we all wanted to get in to set up rooms!😡

PS I've been retired for 23 yrs. I've heard my school district now has a rule that teachers can't come in except for a few days before school starts. I CANNOT believe they're telling professionals who will come in for free, give their time to make rooms organized, nice for the students, no thanks.

Teacher friend got her schedule and 3 times a week she teaches 11 classes in a day and has to walk across to another campus during the day 😱😡😡unbelievable

They need to be paid for their work. So do all people who are in underpaid caring professions. This is an institutionalization of patriarchy. Caring professions are seen as feminine and the feminine is consistently undervalued.
