I’m of the view that ongoing development along the northern east coast is almost certain and, with that in mind, we should at least try to influence how that development occurs. The best way would be for council to extend the existing Pakiri - Te Arai regional park area significantly.
From a cursory look at LINZ, significant chunks of coastline along there (from Goat Island to Mangawhai) are in either: a) reserve (AC I presume) or, b) Māori land titles. This would appear to be good news for the first 150m + of coastal land.
I hope they do not improve the condition of the road there :)
