The thing here is that for them it is a choice. They choose to see, hear and believe the nonsense. There are other outlets, and other places to look to for more accurate information nowadays. But they choose to stay ignorant and simply it's too much work for them to work their critical thinking.

It was a long process. The TLDR? Facts. I just learned enough facts to counter all the lies. I joined the Army and went to war. I got an education, especially philosophy. Veil of Ignorance really struck me. I've always believed in the value of all humanity, Christ-love. Moving away helped a ton.

Ultimately? Moving away and cutting contact, is what it took. It cost me absolutely everything to get out, including my entire family. My only regret, is that I couldn't bring anyone else with me; My younger cousins, especially.

Not really a single moment. Just hundreds of moments discovering a Truth that completely spoiled the image/argument/ideas. I got out even before MAGA. Thank heavens. I credit my service in Iraq, my education in philosophy, and my wife.

It's a cult, through and through. At some point you do realize something is off. But they've got their fangs in you and they are barbed. It took several events but for me I basically ended up purging all political media for several months and it let a lot of their programming fade.

Everyone you know - family, friend, boss, coworkers, minister, Doctor, dentist, sports fans, radio, TV, newspaper - everyone, everyone, everyone "knows" and says the same thing. You have to take on your whole entire life, and push through. AND have enough money to survive on your own. Insanely hard

Basically, the TL;DR is, there is no silver bullet of information that will wake someone up from the cult. Many may already even know something is wrong. But they're prisoners of their own emotions, mostly fear. It took a one-in-a-million panic for me to disconnect entirely like I did.

Truth alone was not enough to leave the cult. If it ever seems like reason is meaningless, that you can win an argument against MAGA only for them to forget it later, or anything else that seems not to make sense. It's because in that life is a constant bombardment of fear. There is no Logic.
