As a former (R), I have a tip for the (D) party regarding things that will contribute to losing more elections: Every time someone disagrees with you, continue calling them a racist or a bigot…even if they’re a voter in your own party. For you dumb motherfuckers who have developed this habit…stop.

Exactly. Their self-interest overpowers their empathy, so there's no use appealing to it. My dad, a generally decent person, voted for Trump though he has a trans grandson. He doesn't think it will be "that bad", but he's willing to risk the lives of others to find out.

That’s a comfortable story for us to tell ourselves as Democrats. It is. Fact is, though, it’s a losing narrative and we just had an election to prove it. We better shift our focus to people in our own party…
