It worked on me! My parents wouldn't allow me to see it R-rated (I was 8 or 9 years old at the time), but I finally got my chance to see it in theatres when this version came out.

This just reminded me that around 1980, my older brother got a job in an appliance store that dabbled in TVs and early home video. I was able to come by on slow days and watch the original uncut version on videodisc anyway - so jokes on you, Mom & Dad!
