Looks like they've finally realised that some people might want an actual sequel to DoW1 the RTS rather than the other genres the other sequels dabbled in. I mean, I don't hate DoW2 or anything, but it's not a game I go back to as much as DoW1, y'know?

The way in which that trailer paints 40k as this violently balletic indecipherable nightmare is genuinely so beautifully disturbing and, in my opinion, perfect
Yeah the presentation leans in to the actual way I've always read these things in my head. Sort of cod epic poetry like Milton rather than gruff men shouting manly things in a manly voice. Best 40k trailer worst Dawn of War. Not worst 40k game mind.
Like the rulebooks from when I was a kid would have "the reward of eternal duty is death" underneath some body horror image of someone's face who is 50% tubes.

There have been some good games here and there, but that trailer is genuinely the most interesting thing to come out of Warhammer videogames.
Rewatching - it might just be because whoever did texturing was a fan of Beksinski.. but I stand by it
As someone who was out of both the 40k and PC gaming loop when all three games came out and still hasn't played them I'm always fascinated by the hate DoW3 gets. It's so universally agreed that it's bad that I don't actually know why. It makes me tempted to just play it blind to find out 😅
It switched to (the fad at the time) MoBA gameplay. Removed all RTS base building or fine unit control elements, and didn't even have the decency to be a good version of a MoBA after all that. It very much felt like a DoW skin put on another generic game that didn't fit the genre or gameplay
Aaah, cheers! That makes a lot more sense, I'd heard a lot about why people liked the first two and how they played, but not anything about how the third played beyond it being different and memes about backflipping terminators

I still maintain that DoW3 was the best gameplay wise, it was just didn’t feel like 40K. DoW1 had the theme but it’s a pretty poor StarCraft clone

I wish they'd made other RTSs using DoW's system instead of turning DoW's sequels into CoH
There's a bunch of interviews with the Devs It seems it will be mainly DoW 1 But less infantry spammy to keep a bunch of positioning matters from DoW 2
Yeah, totally agree. While DoW 2 was pretty fun in it's way, the smaller battles just didn't hit the same notes as 1. In regards to four, I can only muster a hearty "Please do not fuck this up."
I was okay with what I saw in the DoW3 trailer... then the Battlewagon rolled our of the Mek Workshop and I knew they were on the right track.
