Disney's problem with Star Wars is mainly that people want to see characters they care about. With TV shows, it can take multiple seasons to care about characters. Because they only do 1 or 2 seasons, it's hard to care Ahsoka was successful because they had characters people cared about

Well said, Ahsoka was amazing and it felt like it built upon the universe we care about. Same with Mandalorian, it might not have been specific characters (until Fett), but even the races were ones we always wondered about exploring more, and the story is amazing.

Eventually they will figure it out they need to focus on what we wanted more of. Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Kenobi all need another season. Yet we keep getting new characters shoved down our throats and then its "the toxic fans" fault they fail.

I had never heard of Skeleton Crew until your article. Are they marketing it?

say what you will about the book of boba fett, but I argue that at least it told a full, if poor, story. the acolyte can't even qualify for the "F" that boba fett was since it obviously thought it had longer to tell its tale.

to me, the acolyte's "INCOMPLETE" is a bigger knock on what Disney's overall issue with star wars has been and that is putting the cart before the horse every time.

From my perspective, the way Disney has handled the franchise has led to the core fanbase generally not tuning in. So they're stuck chasing casual viewers and it isn't going well.

Put it on ice. That's exactly the thought I had, too! The 20 year time frame between the three trilogies was perfect, but I just can't see how that will work with Disney's need for immediate profits. Feels like they'll eat up the franchise and move on (and then maybe revive it in 20 years lol).

It’s a more complex problem that the company as a whole is having. They are convinced that the parks and Disney+ are part of some weird loyalty synergy. That you will ride something and demand to watch it and vice versa. It’s caused them to make some odd choices in the parks and online.

Skeleton Crew is the Star Wars/Goonies/Far Scape content that everyone deserves and if they can’t make a billion dollars off of Blue Elephant Alien Baby dolls then they aren’t even trying.

Here’s an idea. Rent out the rights to other streaming platforms. I’m tired of all these over-priced platforms. Disney+ for just one new Star Wars series isn’t worth it to me. I’ve been *not* subscribing to services until everything is out and just binge watching once I have a few series saved up.

Commercial tv channels too, ITV in the uk tend to show the movies ever so often so it makes sense i think.

I gotta agree that the problem is Disney+, not the shows themselves. We hit peak service saturation a long time ago, and when having to subscribe to 6 different services to follow things I'm a fan of, I'd rather just let it go than drop several hundred a month for stuff I might not watch.

I think you nailed it with the price tag problem. I wish they could make something good that wasn't so expensive it needed half the planet to watch for it to be a success. Give the shows some time to find their audience and footing, and let people know it's getting a second season so they watch!
