Hunter x Hunter reading continues, though my progress has slowed substantially. All this stuff in the boat with the princes and bodyguards is… well I don’t enjoy reading as many chapters in one sitting.

Its kind of like reading a book about chess instead of playing chess at that point. Dense information, a lot of theoretical plays and counter plays to keep track of, but no action.

Yeah, it's... it's stuff alright. Lot's of stuff. So much stuff. In many, many words. On the bright side it's the current arc, so no rush. On the other hand, it's the current arc, and it's being released at a rate of one volume every couple of years or so...

It gets better once the boat is underway because togashi writes 2-3 chapters sequentially for each herd of characters but that also makes it worse when he takes 3 year breaks and you forget what anyone besides the last group was doing

it's not that it's like, BAD! It just helped that the studio HAD to end on maybe the high point of the series after the best arcs (Chimera Ant into Chairman Election is so peak) (It's not the first time Togashi's struggled with burnout of a series, him talking about YYH is pretty brutal too)

The arc is really fun when you experience it one chapter at a time, as a part of a bigger community exchanging analysis and speculation, almost like an ARG. But getting there is tough, and at some point, it will just finish, removing that light at the end of the tunnel for future readers.
