Nearly completed the second Invincible Compendium. I think my feelings are even more bifurcated than before. The highs are higher and the headscratchers more headscratchery.

This might be a loaded question, but how do you feel about Kirkman as a writer? I only really read "Void Rivals" which I enjoy, but he's taking over "Transformers" from 25 onward, and I admit I'm little anxious to see if he can nail the characterization the way DWJ did.
I think as a macro-level plotter he’s quite skilled, and certain character beats are very well set up. I’m less sold on his moment to moment dialogue and short-term plotting or one off stories.
The twists of "VR" have been VERY good so far. The dialogue is certainly a bit cheesy, but it fits the tone he set for it. I just hope he can capture those serious, heartfelt moments.
Hm!
Kirkman's writing style is very peaks and valleys for better and worse.
100%
I forgot which compendium I left off on (I think around the end or 2 or 3?) and I've taken an extended break but I think same The highs are way better than I expected but then it'll be weird and boring for stretches
My thoughts exactly.
My called shot is ill ultimately like the series and disagree with the people that really hate it, but probably will think it's more interesting than good Still plenty to change my mind (in either direction) but that's where it feels like I'm heading
Some of the bits of "Superheroes: they're just like us!" are the best but it cam get so brutally lib brained or aughts edgy with it.
There’s just a lot of strange interpersonal choices
