America is at the point where an overweight octagenarian painted day glo orange in a nappy patrolling the capital is what it takes to make them feel safe.

I don't think anyone in DC outside his inner circle feels more safe than they did two weeks ago. Everyone I know feels significantly *less* safe. Including the straight white people.
And yet it has nothing to do with safety. It's all just smoke and mirrors.
It does, the GOAL is to make us feel less safe. It's not a bug or collateral damage. It's the entire point. The entire point is to have me wondering whether I can go downtown for dinner on my birthday or whether I'm going to have to look for something in the burbs.
