I will push back on it being fair as barbie exists in an extraordinarily awful position of pushing capitalistic beauty standards, but I feel like y'all aren't ready for that conversation despite the last few decades of it trying to happen

There are legitimate conversations to be had about the problems with Barbie, but they have nothing to do with it being bad to use aspects of a person that have nothing to do with their behavior as insults. The fact that the word "Barbie" exists in both conversations is meaningless.
Hey, have you been paying attention to Barbie dolls for the last decade? Their DEI initiatives are some of the best I’ve seen. They have dolls of historical women, different cultures, amputees, dolls with vitilago, down syndrome, wheelchairs, and a blind doll, all made very respectfully.
Will take a look :o
This line has since been discontinued, but the doll’s removable wig and neutral fashion allowed you to play with their gender expression.
Yeah we probably align
I have plenty to say about capitalistic beauty standards! 😸 I'm seeing people use Fascist Barbie in a way that doesn't reference this context, tho. I'm seeing it used as a put down, the way people used to casually & openly call women bimbos or dumb blondes: shorthand for stupid woman
I want to argue that the use of Barbie is fine due to its existence as something that drags society in a downward direction
Totally fair, I agree A lot of shorthand gets used poorly
